He's 2....only til next week, but still....he's 2....can you tell? Kanton has been searching the house for chocolate all morning and I keep telling him I have none. Well I should have known that when things got a little quiet I would find him getting into something. He made do with chocolate frosting. I'm just glad Ray caught him before he painted the walls and floor with it, which, I'm sure was next on his list of things to do. Ray said "so this is what it is like every day?" Well yes, every second of every minute of every hour of every day with this kid!
I'm soooo tired today because I didn't go to bed until 1:30 am. I just stayed up doing absolutely nothing but enjoying the QUIETNESS (is that even a word) of my home. Yesterday was just one of those days where it seemed like it was one thing after another. This is just a list of a FEW things Kanton has been up to:
*Asking for an orange only to throw pieces of it all over the floor, bring his bike in from outside and run over all of the pieces until they are smashed flat on the floor and juice is everywhere.
*Plugs the bathroom sink, turns on the water full blast and lets his toys go for a swim. Doesn't turn the water off when the sink is full. Floor is soaking wet and he just goes about his business and doesn't say anything about it until I find it later. C'mon his toys just wanted to swim! DUH!
* Dumps full bottles of shampoo out (all of it) into his bath water so he can have bubbles.
*Asks for cereal with milk, promises to eat it this time but uses it for a swimming pool for his toys too. His toys are good swimmers by now.
* Takes his juice box on the carpet, puts the straw in and squeezes it out because it looks like a waterfall.
*Loads the toilet up with a full roll of toilet paper. And I wonder why my toilet doesn't work properly, overflows, floods the floor (upstairs) comes down through the ceiling, lights, and vents in the laundry room and downstairs bathroom and floods those rooms as well.
*Undresses himself 200 times a day....almost.
*Asks for an ice cream cone at Sonic and won't get out of the car when we get home because he wants to eat it in the car. I'm dumb enough to fall for it and when I come back to check on him he has my entire back seat painted with the ice cream.
*Loads my cart up with stuff at the grocery store so when I get to the checkout stand I leave more with the cashier to put back than I buy to take home.
*Unloads the racks at clothes stores and takes off running with the clothes while I'm trying to catch him....while holding Stockton. We are good at entertaining the other customers! Last time he did that I was putting him in his car seat after we left the store and he told me he was sorry and he wouldn't do it anymore. He did. You would think Brig would be helpful in a situation like this, being 7 and all. But he thinks it is so funny and just eggs him on. Sometimes all I can do is laugh, just so I don't cry and I'm sure people think I'm crazy. In fact, last time we were in JC Penney my sister in law Robin got to witness this insanity and ended up taking one of my kids home with her. Thanks for taking pity on me Robin! I don't know why I keep trying to take all my kids with me. I tried going to Bashas with all 3 boys a couple of weeks ago and I got halfway down the first aisle and all 3 of them were whining and Brig and Kanton were yelling at each other so I put my bread back on the shelf, turned around and walked out.
Lately when I have to get after Kanton for something he will hold my face in his hands and say "I'm so sorry honey, I'm so so sorry." It cracks me up. He is a funny kid.
{Did I mention I love him?} I really do.
But if ever you are talking to me and I seem to be in la la land and can't keep a train of thought or remember anything about anything just remember ~ I'm not going crazy anymore.....I'm officially THERE!!

And to top it all off Ray just called me from a job he is trying to finish up. While he was leaving Kanton was begging to go with him. I didn't want him to because he still had his chocolate frosting painted shirt on, his hair is sticking up everywhere and he is wearing his boots on the wrong feet, with shorts. Ray said he only had one piece of material to finish putting up and that he would be right back so Kanton could go. So Ray calls me and said everything went to pot....Kanton started screaming bloody murder when they got there because he has a blister on his foot....I didn't mention he wasn't wearing socks under his backward boots....the homeowner was watching this go on so she runs out with some medicine and a band aid to fix him up. Now he is in the house baking cookies with the lady. I don't know why this struck me so funny....maybe because I just got done doing this post about Kanton, but all I could do when Ray told me this was laugh hysterically. I'm telling you, I'm C.R.A.Z.Y.

You have some of the most funniest story's about that kid I love it.... Everytime I read about him I crack up and have tears coming down my face!!! He is a keeper!
What a hoot! He's hilarious! Reminds me of my #3 child! I was so that way with him - Hallie, it'll get better! My Jordan sure has turned out to be a great kid! They grow up so fast, and you'll be so grateful that you experienced it!! (in 10 years!!!)
I feel for you Hallie. My girls are always bringing in the bikes and scooters and rides them into the living room, down the hall, into the play room, into the kitchen and back into the living room. Over and over again. I also try and run all my errands while Damien and Kaytlinn are in school because mine act just like yours. You would think Damien would know how to behave in the store since he is 9 but he is worse than the girls. Now go and take the kids and drop them off at the Cub House at Bashas, get your shopping done, sit down in the deli and have lunch or just a coke. Leave the kids tehre as long as they are allowed. I have NEVER done that. LOL
Oh my gosh Hallie he is quite the character. Sometimes I really wish I knew what went through thier little minds when they do the things they do. Hope you are having a better day today. Need me to bring you a coke? You know my number...
Hugs!!!
I about died when he walked in wearing shorts with one cowboy boot and one snow boot the other day. I can't be around without having a good laugh at something he does. He is one cute, cute kid! As hard as it is on you, you will have some good memories...and remember, we reap what we sow, he will have one just like him someday :) His poor wife...you might want to warn her. haha.
Good to know that everyone has days like that. It seems that some kids just make sure you have more than your share of days like that. Isn't it a good thing they come to us little and cute so we can't be mean to them. Crazy may be a good place to be, at least you're laughing a lot:) Keep it up, he's going to continue to bring you joy and I think he'll turn out just great!
Ok, Hal, Dan and I just read this together and I'm sorry but we are BUSTING UP! I cannot believe how "busy" Kanton is! He was such a perfect little angel when he was here those few days. You have to have the patience of a saint by now! I know it's not so funny when it's happening, but it's sure a crack up to read about it! Thanks!
I loved reading this post Hallie! He is so stinkin' cute. Every family needs one of those. Mine is Gage and he's good at it. When he's all grown up you will have the best stories to tell!
What a hilarious wee man! This post was awesome!
That is hilarious...and I thought Griffin was a wild man. Good ol' Kanton, you gotta love him:)
